Metallic and striped in Milan

Standard

Adding a little metallic into what you’re wearing can do wonders. This is probably the reason why metallic colors like gold and bronze have been seen in a lot of runway shows this year. A little sparkle goes a long way and in the case of this ensemble, a sheath dress is made glamorous by the presence of metallic stripes.

Overall, the ensemble is a modern take on 1960s fashion. Working well with the dress is the black blazer with gorgeous but not overpowering lapel details. Complementing the metallic on the dress is the bronze clutch and her black and gold wedges.

London Victoria: Britain’s new fashion hub

Standard

Both Tom Ford and Burberry’s headquarters are already housed in the SW1 neighbourhood, which is just a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace, whilst Jimmy Choo and its parent group Labelux are currently preparing to move into a 37,000 square foot office on Victoria Street.

This week’s best things to do in London, from Fashion’s Night Out to the Mayor’s Thames Festival
Real estate investment trust Land Securities have reportedly invested £2 billion on the redevelopment of the area, which is known mainly as a busy transport hub filled with unattractive office blocks and a smattering of theatres – and it’s also home to The Daily Telegraph .

Victoria Fairhall, development director of Land Securities’ London portfolio told WWD that they set their focus on Victoria after commercial real estate prices in the upmarket Mayfair soared. They began with the development of Cardinal Place, a large contemporary structure offering luxury retail and office space, in 2006. It now boasts Microsoft’s London headquarters as well as retailers such as Topshop, Zara and Space NK, with more higher-end retailers set to move in soon.

As the likes of Burberry and Ford moved into the area, Land Securities realised Victoria’s potential as a fashion centre. “We wanted to get away from the area’s historical tenants and get a deeper, more varied mix. We thought fashion would be fantastic, given the accessibility of Victoria and the style of the offices – they are fully refurbished and some have a retro feel to them,” said Fairhall.

Together with creative agency Show Media, Land Securities created website createvictoria.com and also produce a quarterly lifestyle newspaper, the Shopping Issue of which will be distributed with the December 2 edition of the Sunday Telegraph .

Fashion Goes One Direction with Penshoppe

Standard

Retail powerhouse Penshoppe suits up yet another of the world’s hottest names in music and pop culture today with its latest endorser, UK band One Direction.

Members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson started out in the competition as solo artists, but were eventually put together as a group to form a boy band by Simon Cowell, the show’s producer and also one of its judges.

The group was signed by Columbia Records after finishing third on The X Factor and has since churned out some of today’s most-played hits, the most popular of which so far is chart-topping single What Makes You Beautiful.

One Direction has sold over 12 million albums, singles, and videos worldwide, with even a British publication dubbing 2012 as “The Year of One Direction”.

With their refreshingly young, hip, and energetic appeal, One Direction easily represents what Penshoppe is all about. Whether it’s for a music video or live concert performance, the popular boy band maintains a signature tailored look that highlights key pieces from the brand they are now endorsing, with the members often seen in button downs or piqué shirts paired with comfy jeans, sneakers, and a cardigan or jacket.

Decked in clean and crisp, preppy and dressy outfits from Penshoppe, the brand’s signature look—basics with a touch of sophistication and sexiness—is the perfect match to the casual, laid-back, yet put-together style and attitude that the boys of One Direction are known for.

“We are very happy to welcome One Direction to the Penshoppe family,” says Brand Director Alex Mendoza. “As a brand with an already-established look, we are particular about who we choose to represent the label and how they reflect our fashion aesthetic and overall image, and One Direction fits the bill perfectly. They’re fun, fresh, dynamic, and exciting—qualities that are characteristic of the Penshoppe brand and its signature pieces.”

As a special treat for Filipino fans, One Direction’s latest limited edition album, Take Me Home: The Special Yearbook Edition, will be available exclusively at Penshoppe for only Php550 (discounted from the original Php995 retail price).

With every Php 1,500 single receipt purchase from any Penshoppe or Teenlab boutique, from November 17 to 30, shoppers can reserve their albums, which will be available for redemption at the branch where the qualifying purchase was made beginning December 1, the official release date, upon the presentation of the receipt.

One Direction’s Take Me Home: The Special Yearbook Edition includes four bonus tracks, She’s Not Afraid, Loved You First, Nobody Compares, and Still The One, plus an exclusive booklet with personal photos of the band, interviews, and artwork submitted by the boys themselves.

Bright florals for dull weather

Standard

Winter fashion can be a little bit dull sometimes because all we see on the streets are plain and dark clothes. The weather is already dreary and sometimes depressing so why not try and brighten up your mood by wearing something colourful and fun? It’s always a nice change from all the blacks, browns, greys and navys that we see around the street. Try to wear a royal blue coat or carry a sunny yellow bag or, in this street style case, wear floral pants! It looks fun, right?

Fashion / Fit Tech Company Clothes Horse Announces Partnerships with Nicole Miller, Frank & Oak, Von Vonni and Ledbury, as Well as Tag Management Platform Bright Tag

Clothes Horse, a New York based fashion technology company solving the problem of buying clothes that fit, announced exciting new partnerships with retail and distribution partners.

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 15, 2012
Clothes Horse, a New York based fashion technology company, and the leader in the Fit Guidance Solution Space, announced today a distribution partnership with BrightTag, as well as retail partnerships with Nicole Miller, Frank and Oak, Von Vonni and Ledbury. Shoppers can use the Clothes Horse product to learn what the best sizes are for them as they shop, and make educated purchase decisions based on how the clothes will fit their bodies.

The brands, which operate in places as diverse as New York City, Montreal, and Richmond, VA, are using Clothes Horse on everything from t-shirts, to pants, to dress shirts and dresses. By relying on Clothes Horse, they can focus on product and marketing, while Clothes Horse takes care of fit – and in the process, creates 12-15% more sales, 12% higher average order values, and 7-14% fewer returns.

“Working with Clothes Horse has been monumental in growing our business. Not only does it improve the shopping experience in a way that would not be possible with traditional merchandising, but it allows us to focus on design and other parts of our business, rather than worrying about communicating fit on our website,” said Mike Malinsky, CEO of Von Vonni.

Working with BrightTag comes with even more benefits to retailers. Clothes Horse installation is as simple as dropping a line of javascript, but this can be challenging for brands with outside development shops. With BrightTag, installation is as simple as pressing a button.

“BrightTag’s focus on performance is critical to what we see in the market, and their approach to tag management and real-time data integration has all of the right benefits for our retail partners. With our strengths combined, our mutual partners are going to have a serious leg up,” said Vik Venkatraman, Co-Founder of Clothes Horse.

70% of shoppers hesitate to purchase because of uncertainty on fit. As more spend in fashion/apparel moves online, the major shopper complaint is inconsistency of fit, says the NPD group. Retailers need to get better at marketing and merchandising online, as shoppers have increasing reason to be fearful. Clothes Horse brings confidence to the most anxiety-ridden part of the sale through data-driven algorithms and a focus on customer experience.

Clothes Horse is the leader in the fast-growing Fit Guidance Solution space. They have the most proven results, fastest (and free) installation, and a fully white-labeled experience.
