Metallic and striped in Milan


Adding a little metallic into what you’re wearing can do wonders. This is probably the reason why metallic colors like gold and bronze have been seen in a lot of runway shows this year. A little sparkle goes a long way and in the case of this ensemble, a sheath dress is made glamorous by the presence of metallic stripes.

Overall, the ensemble is a modern take on 1960s fashion. Working well with the dress is the black blazer with gorgeous but not overpowering lapel details. Complementing the metallic on the dress is the bronze clutch and her black and gold wedges.

Real estate investment trust Land Securities have reportedly invested £2 billion on the redevelopment of the area, which is known mainly as a busy transport hub filled with unattractive office blocks and a smattering of theatres – and it’s also home to The Daily Telegraph .

Victoria Fairhall, development director of Land Securities’ London portfolio told WWD that they set their focus on Victoria after commercial real estate prices in the upmarket Mayfair soared. They began with the development of Cardinal Place, a large contemporary structure offering luxury retail and office space, in 2006. It now boasts Microsoft’s London headquarters as well as retailers such as Topshop, Zara and Space NK, with more higher-end retailers set to move in soon.

As the likes of Burberry and Ford moved into the area, Land Securities realised Victoria’s potential as a fashion centre. “We wanted to get away from the area’s historical tenants and get a deeper, more varied mix. We thought fashion would be fantastic, given the accessibility of Victoria and the style of the offices – they are fully refurbished and some have a retro feel to them,” said Fairhall.

Together with creative agency Show Media, Land Securities created website and also produce a quarterly lifestyle newspaper, the Shopping Issue of which will be distributed with the December 2 edition of the Sunday Telegraph .

Bright florals for dull weather


Winter fashion can be a little bit dull sometimes because all we see on the streets are plain and dark clothes. The weather is already dreary and sometimes depressing so why not try and brighten up your mood by wearing something colourful and fun? It’s always a nice change from all the blacks, browns, greys and navys that we see around the street.
